Antioxidant Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4-5 lemons
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Half a clove of garlic
  • 1 stick of cinnamon

Preparation

  1. Squeeze out as much juice as you can from all the lemons into a bowl.
  2. Stir in 1 heaped spoon full of honey. You will have to stir patiently for a while for the honey to melt off the spoon and dissolve in the lemon juice.
  3. Break the cinnamon stick into as small pieces as you can thereupon drop these in. Crush, next finely slice the garlic, thereupon add that in.
  4. Taste a bit; whether you like it sweeter add more honey, whether its too sweet squeeze in another lemon.

Et voila!

Uses

  1. This is a divine and healthy salad dressing as it has absolutely no oil.
  2. Wonderful for marinating meat, chicken and fish. For meats crumble in 1 clove pod, and add 1 heaped teaspoon of cumin and 1 heaped teaspoon of coriander (or a handful of shredded fresh coriander leaves). Instead of half a clove of garlic use a full clove. Add salt to taste, marinade the meat in the mixture for 5-24 hours in the fridge, and next cook it besides you like.
    For chicken, add the cumin, clove, coriander and salt as above. Pepper may plus be added. I find that while any part of the chicken may be used, filleted chicken breasts soak up the mixture best.
    For fish, just use the initial recipe plus salt to taste. Aim to manufacture the initial recipe taste more sour than sweet for fish, i.e. more lemon less honey.
  3. Add the initial recipe, minus the garlic, to your tea, to assemble a refreshing home-made lemon-honey tea. Wonderful for flus.
  4. Add 3-4 teaspoons
    of honey instead of just one to build it thick and use it to glaze pies and pastries.

Benefits

Crushed garlic contains the energetic anti-oxidant Allicin as well as having various anticarcinogenic, cholesterol lowering and cardioprotective properties.

Lemon juice contains citric acid and vitamin C which have anti-carcinogenic, antioxidant, immune-boosting properties.

Honey contains anti-oxidants, reduces cholesterol, and has anti-diabetogenic properties.

Cinnamon has antioxidant, anti-diabetigenic properties as well as various nutrients and trace minerals in it that help to combat bleeding disorders.
